Neighbourhood Plan 2021 to 2036

Middlesbrough Council adopted ('made') the Stainton and Thornton Neighbourhood Plan 2021-2036 at its meeting on 25 May 2022, following an independent examination and successful referendum.

The Stainton and Thornton Neighbourhood Plan will be used to decide the outcome of planning applications in the area covered by the Neighbourhood Plan.

Stainton and Thornton Parish Neighbourhood Area

Approved on 7 March 2017

Under the Localism Act 2011 and the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) Middlesbrough Council approved Stainton and Thornton Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Area application on 7 March 2017. The newly designated area will be known as the Stainton and Thornton Parish Neighbourhood Area.

Stainton and Thornton – submitted Neighbourhood Area application

Under the Localism Act 2011 and Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) Middlesbrough Council is in receipt of an application from the Stainton and Thornton Parish Council to establish a Neighbourhood Area. As part of the application process, the Parish Council has submitted the relevant application form, a statement outlining why it considers the parish appropriate for designation, and an OS map showing the proposed designation boundary.
