Problems with your bus pass

If your pass is...

Lost, damaged, or stolen

add

If your pass has been lost or damaged, a replacement will cost £16.50. We reserve the right to decide what classes as 'damage'.

You can pay for your replacement bus pass using:

  • cash
  • cheque (made payable to Middlesbrough Borough Council)
  • Postal Order (made payable to Middlesbrough Borough Council)
  • credit or debit card (only for payments of £10 and over)

If your pass has been stolen, a replacement will be free if you provide a crime number when you request a new pass.

If your pass has been lost, damaged, or stolen, call us on 01642 726053.

Your replacement pass will have the same expiry date as your previous pass.

Faulty

add

If your pass is faulty (for example, the smart chip has stopped working), you can still travel without being charged. But you'll need to contact us as soon as possible to get a free replacement.

If you keep using the faulty pass and do not request a replacement, the pass will be cancelled so you cannot use it.

If you need a replacement for a faulty pass, call us on 01642 726053.

You should keep your current pass until the replacement arrives. When you get the replacement, you'll need to post your faulty pass back to us or hand it in at Middlesbrough House. We'll send it for testing to find out why it stopped working.

Not valid for travel

add

If your bus pass is not valid, the driver will tell you.

If this happens, your pass may have been cancelled by the council which issued it. This can happen because:

  • you've told the council that the pass has been lost or stolen
  • it's being used by someone other than the person named on the pass
  • you're no longer entitled to travel with a bus pass (for example, the pass has expired)

If you still want to travel, you may be asked to pay the normal adult fare. If you do not want to pay, you may be refused travel.

You'll need to contact us as soon as possible using the phone number on the back of your pass to get a replacement.
