The driver of a section 19-permit minibus can be either a paid or unpaid volunteer.

Driver training

add

Middlesbrough Council is certified to provide training for minibus drivers in relation to driving assessments, wheelchair security and the safe operation of tail lifts.

Minibus driving assessments consist of a monitored drive of approximately 1.5 hours assessing a driver's skills and capabilities. Participants are steered towards improving their driving techniques with the ultimate goal being the safety of any passengers they carry. Tail lift training and wheelchair security training is to ensure the safe carriage of people who use a wheelchair and need to travel on an accessible bus.

All training is provided by Ayresome Community Transport. To find out more about minibus, wheelchair security and tail lift training, and associated costs call 01642 353438.
