Shopping trolleys

Abandoned trolleys are an environmental eyesore. They are found in parks and open spaces, back alleys, footpaths, cycleways and becks. Trolleys dumped in becks obstruct the flow of water and can lead to flooding. The council spends many hours and thousands of pounds every year clearing trolleys from streets and watercourses.

The council has adopted laws allowing it to charge supermarkets for all the costs incurred dealing with their abandoned trolleys.

Please report all abandoned trolleys by calling the Environment Contact Centre on 01642 726001.
