Holiday activities and food (HAF) programme

The holiday activities and food (HAF) programme runs during the school holidays to offer free, fun activities and food to children and young people aged 5 to 16 years. We understand that the school holidays can be a challenging time for parents, and the HAF can support this. All children who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals can take part.

Organisations can sign up as ‘providers’ to offer activities for children. These activities might include:

  • sport or physical activity, for example football, swimming, or table tennis
  • creative activities, for example music workshops or putting on a play
  • experiences, for example a nature walk or visiting a museum

The HAF programme runs during the three main school holidays - Christmas, Easter, and summer.
