Once you've told us everything, we have to find out whether there is any abuse happening.
When you contact us, we'll ask you to give us as much information as possible so we know what to look out for.
We'll speak to the child's family members, and the child, if they're old enough to talk to us. We'll tell them what abuse we think is happening and who we think the abuser/s are, and then try to find out if it's true or not.
If we think there is abuse happening, we'll work with the family to try and find a way to keep the child safe. This might involve the family being given a social worker, and working with some of the Children's Services teams to try and make things better at home.
We can't take the child away from their family unless we're absolutely sure that they're in immediate danger. If that happens, we'll go to court and ask for permission to take the child somewhere we can keep them safe.
