Employment development

Our ASYE Programme
The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) is a 12-month, employer led and employment-based programme of support and assessment for newly qualified social workers (NQSWs). Middlesbrough are part of a Teeswide Partnership ASYE Memorandum of Cooperation, to ensure the programme is quality assured on a regular basis and meets the standards set by Skills for Care.

We provide a specifically tailored ASYE Programme to help support and develop the skills of those employees new to the profession and we have a dedicated ASYE and Practice Development Lead who will support and advise our NQSWs through their assessed year.

Training and Development:

At Middlesbrough we have a Learning and Development Programme as we believe that everyone working in Adult Social Care in Middlesbrough should be able to access the learning, development, skills and knowledge they require to carry out their role effectively.

Our Learning and Development Programme supports the creation of a learning culture within Middlesbrough, building on our shared values, practices and procedures so that we have the competence and understanding to best meet the needs of our vulnerable clients and their carers.

We have worked closely with local and national trainers and organizations including Community Care Inform and Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board to provide bespoke learning and development opportunities so that we can continue to build our skills for the future.

Learning is a continuous process and we all have personal responsibility to maintain our professional development – this is a requirement from Social Work England in order for practitioners to maintain their registration and ability to practice.

Regular refresher training is therefore encouraged and required in some areas to enable us to remain up-to-date with current legislation and new approaches.
