Middlesbrough Council is committed to improving access to faster broadband for its businesses and residents. We've worked closely with our Tees Valley neighbours and Durham County Council to use funding from Broadband Delivery UK (part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport), to improve superfast broadband coverage and ensure that at least 95% of Middlesbrough's premises have access to superfast broadband.
To find out if your area can currently access superfast broadband, or is scheduled for improvement, please use the Openreach postcode checker.
Middlesbrough Council is working with partner councils as part of the Tees Valley Full Fibre Roll-out programme to improve broadband infrastructure.
Tees Valley Combined Authority is planning on using European Regional Development Fund (under PA 2: Support for ICT Provision) to provide superfast broadband in the council areas of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton on Tees.
Tees Valley Combined Authority will contract with suppliers who receive public funding to provide superfast broadband in areas where it is either not available or included in any future commercial plans. Significant investments have already been made with Middlesbrough Council funding, Tees Valley Combined Authority and central government match funding.
