Street collection licence

To run a public collection for charitable purposes you'll need a licence from Middlesbrough Council.

The organiser of the collection must apply for a licence no later than one month before the date of the collection.

Before granting a licence, we'll consult the chief constable for the area and make any other enquiries we see fit.

We will also consider:

  • public inconvenience
  • other collections taking place
  • how much of the money raised will actually be given to charity
  • any convictions the organiser has

You can apply online to run a charitable collection

You can also notify us online of the amount raised by a charitable collection

What happens next?

You'll be able to act as though your application is granted and complete your collection if you've not heard from the council by the end of the target completion period.
