Handyperson service

Many people want to stay in their own homes as they grow older or their circumstances change. Through our handyperson service, we help our clients to keep living independently at home. We focus on minor repairs and adaptations which help make things safer and more comfortable. We can also offer information about other services which could help.

Our handyperson service has won a number of awards for its work, including 'HandyPerson Service of the Year' at the National Healthy Housing Awards 2020.

Essential works

add

Normally a householder carries out small repairs to their home, but doing this could put some older and disabled people at risk, for example climbing ladders or carrying heavy tools.

If you:

  • live in Middlesbrough
  • are an owner-occupier (you own your home and live there)
  • are disabled, vulnerable, or over 60 years of age
  • live in a property which needs essential, minor repairs

we may be able to help with:

  • joinery repairs
  • improving home security
  • removing trip hazards
  • minor adaptations (for example, a second stair rail, grab rail, or bath aid)

Non-essential works

add

We also offer a repair and non-essential works service for owner-occupiers, who are over 60 years of age or are disabled. This can include small joinery jobs like putting up shelves, assembling furniture, and other general repair and plumbing jobs.

Get in touch and let us know what you need, and we'll try to help. The cost is just £10 per hour, plus the cost of any materials used. The maximum time allowed per visit is 3 hours.
